2224.0. "Extmail problems" by ROM01::WIRELESS () Fri May 09 1997 20:19

I'm trying to set up extmail on LNX 3.0.8 on Digital Unix.
When I send a msg to my ext.id ([email protected]) from a POP3 compliant
    client I find in /usr/var/spool/mail/in/f0008957/control.dat

    MailID: 0000006B00000016
    BEGIN Error
Text: 279 [email protected] incorrect external id (for sender of mail)
    END
    BEGIN Deliver
    Ident: root
    END

The corporate mail_srv relays [email protected] to the OS account
[email protected] (lnx server). I can state that this step
works fine because I can see from mailx incoming pending messages for
    lnxtest.
Anyway lnxtest is also the OS-login of the lnx-account lnxtest
(too!) using as ext.id [email protected].

When I try to send msg from lnx using lnxtest to an external user I
just get an exxxxxxxx directory on /usr/var/spool/mail/out but
    control.dat doen't complain at all.

    What can be wrong ?

Guiseppo,

From the description in .0 I am guessing that you are using [email protected]
as external identification whereas you should be using just lnxtest.

Does this guess makes sense ?

    Hi,

    that's right !!!
Reading the User manual I was guessing that the systax
wrong. Anyway it seems that account name cannot be more than 20 chars.

    Thanks a lot,
