2221.0. "Supported way to move the doc pool.." by TAV02::CHAIM (Semper ubi Sub ubi .....) Thu May 08 1997 15:46

LinkWorks V3.0.8 server
NT/Intel V3.5 SQL Server

A customer would like to move the document POOL area to another location
(another disk).

I have seen note 1699 and the steps to be taken. However, I also noticed a
reference in note 1610 which seems to imply that changing the pool area
location either via modifying the Managers file or the database is NOT
supported.

What if (if any) is a supported method for moving the document pool area?

Thanks,

Cb.

Hi,

If you are not very good in sql the preferred method would be :
- stop linkworks
- copy the pool
- edit the managers file for the new pool directory
- run instcell- upgrade
( this will copy the info from the managers file back into the database
- start linkworks
- if everything is OK, delete the old pool directory.

The upgrade can take a while, especially if there are a lot of objects in the cell(s)
The alternative is to update the database yourself as described in note 1699.
Only use this alternative if you are confortable with SQL.
