2160.0. "Cannot start mgmt service on NT4 server" by TLAV01::PREECHA () Mon Mar 10 1997 04:52

I load LinkWorks for MS-Windows NT4 server kit from

   IJSAPL::DISK$LNX:[KITS.NTX308.DEC96REL]NTISQL.EXE

Run setup that is Ok. Install management component that seem Ok,
But I try to start mgmt service with command

   lnxsrv -start -mgmt

No message display. I check status mgmt service from event manager.
It show message

   Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.

SQL Security mode is used 'trusted connections'.

Please help me what I mistake to install LinkWorks ?

Thanks in advanced,
Preecha

After running 'setup' did you:
- open Control Panel->Services
- select LinkWorks
- choose ok

    I already tried to start service but it does not start.
    The message is

    Could not start the LinkWorks service on \\<machine name>
    Error 1069: The service did not start due to a logon failure.

Preecha,

That is not what I mean. After running setup and before running instmgmt
you have to go to ControlPanel-->Services and open LinkWorks and chose ok.
It is described in the installation guide for NT. If you did not do that
I am afraid that you'll have to start all over again.
Version 3.2 will have a much better install without these side steps.

    Jos,

    Thank you for your quick reply. I just install LinkWorks on NT4
    finish and running. I fix it by

    1. Change password user omdba, omuser and ombgusr by
       User Manager for Domains.
    2. Change password user omuser in Services windows.
       Controlpanel -> Services -> LinkWorks -> Startup
       Change password omuser.

    After change user/password, I can install LinkWorks.

    Thank you very much,
    Preecha
