Hi, Two questions about DB in a LNX Environment. 1. We have today two OSFORA Server in one Domain and would like to ad on NTISQL and one NTIORA LNX-Server into the productive LNX-Domain. I know the LNX Cell Concept and i think that should be work. Has anybody a LNX-Domain with different Servers and DB in a productive environement? 2. One Customer would like a NT-Failover Server with - MS SMS (MS SQL Server) - LinkWorks (with ORACLE DB) Is this possible to run two DB on a NT-Server with LinkWorks? Many thanks for your help ToniOSFORA LNX-Domain. In the documentatios

Toni, I've tried it out and there are no problems. I have worked with the Administartive component on OSF/1 V3.2c running LinkWorks 3.0.8 and ORACLE and another cell on the NT3.51/Intel (SP4) with SQL Server 6.1. I did not face any problems. Only thing I noticed was that after installing the second cell on NT I had to shutdown and restart LinkWorks on OSF/1 to get the second cell entries in the /usr/op/servers/Managers and the cltdf.cfg files. > >This is reassuring for the first question. > Toni, First question - as far as I know you can mix servers and dbs in one LinkWorks cluster, with one exception - you can't mix SQL-SERVER and ORACLE in the same LinkWorks domain on NT. See also the release notes, page 51. So you can add an NT server, but I'm not sure that you can add 2 - one with SQL, one with Oracle. Your case may be different, since the management server is on UNIX, not an NT. Worth a check with the support. Second question - no reason why not to install SMS and LinkWorks/Oracle on the same server. However - LinkWorks failover on NT? interesting. We will be happy to get more details. HTH, Yariv |
