Hello from Israel, A major linkworks (V3.07) customer of ours has a LNXBM problem after IBM installed their November96 level set patches on the customer's AIX 4.1.4 . The customer defined the problem to be in copying the OMPASSWD file after the (10Gbyte!!!) is copied. The LNXBM process is hung!!! Currently I interacting with IBM's local support group, and they wonder how the copy is done. They wonder what resources are used (that may be their default allocations were changed afterthe patches installation). Pls. note the follwing: 1. A quick reply is needed. IBM intends to send an expert from Austin USA. I think it'll be only right to let them know if it is really neccessary the problem is in their responsibility. 2. The customer's environment is a production environment. An upgrade to version 3.08 is not possible in the immediate future unsless this is the only solution. I need an accurate reply on this issue. Thanks in advance for the quick response, Doron Angel, Linkworks support, Israel. [Posted by WWW Notes gateway]

I talked to Anton & his guess was that the rpc probably lost connection for some reason during the pool copy. He was right!!! The IBM expert found that memory allocation to rpc was limited probably due to new values in their patch. The changed the mbuf which solved the problem. Doron. [Posted by WWW Notes gateway] | |||||

I don't recommend to use lnxbm without the e-flag. Its better and much more efficient to backup the pool with tar or cp. Martin |
