2144.0. "Focus on the wrong window when using New Mail Inbox" by KERNEL::SIMPSONR (fred) Tue Feb 25 1997 17:00

Unix V3.2g  Linkworks V3.08

Customer has the latest version of LinkWorks server V3.08 running on NT. The
clients are running V3.08 and I have the December 1996 V3.08 and can also see
the problem. It is reproduceable in Windows for Workgroups as well as Windows
95. To see and understand the problem please do the following:

 In the release Notes it mentions:

  For 3.08-only installations a Software Component is available to implement a
  new mail inbox. This mailbox displays the About the envelope... dialog after
  a double-click. The functionality to see the attached documents can be
  provided using the following Desk script for a single user:

   xx = ToObject("Root.Child(\"Mail Inbox\")");
   println xx;
   yy = xx->LNXMAIL@0000000000000000000000000000000000:ChangeToMailInbox96();
   println yy;

I ran the desktop script and it worked fine. At this stage check that the
options for desktop has its object tree set to none. I then double clicked on
the Mail Inbox and from this new window chose the option "About the mailbox" and
it said:

   Software Component     LNXMAIL@00000000000000000000000000000000000

as one of the fields. I then double clicked on one of the envelopes that
contained objects and the Open envelope window appeared. At the bottom of which
is a "Contents" button. Press this and it displays the contents of the envelope
however instead of the Open Envelope window getting the focus, the Mail Inbox
does. This causes a lot of confusion as they can end up on top of each other
thus the user thinks nothing has happened. Although I have as yet been unable to
reproduce it, the customer has also seen the same sympton when using Trees to
view the envelopes.

Any ideas?
Cheers,
Richard.
