2134.0. "LinkWorks randomly "stays on top" ?" by UTRTSC::SCHOLLAERT (Ajax: World Champions 1995) Wed Feb 19 1997 14:51

    Hello,

    Customer reports weird problem.

    LinkWorks 3.0.8 (win 3.11) clients randomly "stays on top".
    This means applicatios like WP, but also the event screen
    of LinkWorks are behind the users LinkWorks desk during
    strated so a user does not notices that he has new mail.

    Happens on multiple PC'S, multpile times a week, but there is no pattern
    in the occurences.

    LinkWorks is started with lnxshell.

    What can cause LinkWorks to behave like this ? Or is win 3.11 to
    blame ?

    Thanks,

2134.1Similar problem on Windows-NT 3.51 clientBACHUS::dbc624.bro.dec.com::POPPEFri Feb 21 1997 18:4919
Hi,

I have a similar problem report from a customer with V3.0.8.
When minimize Excel (from Office7), work on the LNX desk, and reactivate
Excel, it is hidden behind LinkWorks. Their clients are Windows-NT 3.51.
They have it consistently on all clients.
I tried to reproduce it and got the following:
Open an Excell document on the desk, minimize it, and open a second
spreadsheet -> Excell does not come to the foreground.
The same on a Windows-95 or Windows-NT 4.0 works correctly.

I also tried the combination of TeamLinks with Excell on Win-NT3.51,
but then the behaviour is correct.

Is this a MicroSoft problem or a LinkWorks problem ? Or both ?

Rgds,
Marc

2134.2LinkWorks comes on top : Automatic ViewerUTRTSC::SCHOLLAERTThink before you shrinkFri May 16 1997 08:5918
    Hi,
     re .0

    Colleque has been onside. Problem is clear now. Customer uses
    the Automatic Viewer (default delay 1 sec).
    When an object within a drawer/folder is opened (dubble click) and
    the application (word,wp) is started faster than the viewer delay,
    the LinkWorks desk comes on top and the application gets hidden.

    Problem does not occur on the users desks.

    Bug ?

    Thanks,

    Hi again,

    Reproduced the problem @UTO with W16BIT.EXE (21-JUN-1996).

    Tested with IJSAPL::DISK$LNX:[KITS.WIN308P.16BIT]W16ENGPN.EXE
    (7-MAY-1997).

    Works fine.

    Cheers,
