No comments yet on Randy Robataille? He makes his debut tonight
with the B's centering Carter & Sweeney. Harry gave this kid
(he was a sophomore at Miami) $2.2 million for three years to
for-go his last two years in college. I don't know much about
him besides the fact that he's a Hoby Baker finalist and he's
    young (obviously).

IMO, his presence will at least give us a reason to tune in to the
game tonight.....hopefully he'll find the twine three times and the
B's will lose 4-3 and take a step closer to #1....Two losses to
    the Isles would help....

Oh yeah, Tallas is done for the year...Paxton Schafer (Stadium?
or Beer?) will back up Carey the rest of the way.
140.2Screw da B's, Robataille...BU UPSETS MICHIGAN!!!ASDG::MCNAMARAstrange visitor......Fri Mar 28 1997 07:4722
....and what happens? Robataille takes his 1st shift, gets SLAMMED
into the boards, separates his shoulder, out for the rest of this
so-called "season"....man, The Luck of the Bruins...jeez.....how many
times have we seen this? Kluzak, Leveille (sp?), Neely, et al.....

However, BU Terriers upset Michigan big-time last night, 3-2...
BU now goes into Saturday's final against N. Dakota (ESPN), 1:00pm....
you gotta tune in for this one....last night's game was one of the BEST
    college/pro games I've ever seen...lots and lots of hard-hitting,
checking, GREAT goaltending by BU's Michel Larouque (no relation
    to "Bunny" Larouque...'membah him??? Hmmmm????)

Jack Parker continues to amaze....this guy next to me at the bah
last night called Parker "the Scotty Bowman of college hockey"....
kinda appropriate....BU's been in the NCAA Finals more than any other
team in NCAA history (~20 years, methinks..)

    Tune in Saturday to BU....
Tune out the Broons for now....

140.3Parker would make a GREAT start toward next yearDIVER1::MACHADOCrazy on a ship of foolsFri Mar 28 1997 08:1120
I would LOVE to see Harry lure Parker away from college hockey and
see if he could be the kind of professional coach that he's been
college coach. I think he could be, given control of the team and input
as to the players he'd like (within reason of course). With players
shuffling in and out, never being there for more than four years
(hopefully ;-)) he has nearly always put a good team on the ice. Of
course that would mean that Harry would have to relinquish a little bit
of the control of the team but we've all seen where he has taken this
team with his "total control" approach now haven't we...

Face it, it would be a great start towards getting things turned
    around.

BTW, I didn't watch the game but how many B's lined up to make the guy
that slammed Robitaille into the boards pay for it? I'll betcha Harry
had more drinks last night than players that tried to make the guilty
    party pay.

    mac - Happy B-Day

Barry - I think the B's tried to lure Parker away like 3 or 4
years ago and he didn't want to go. Looking back on it, it's better
he didn't...Obviously, the guy can coach and with the lack of talent
the B's have had lately, they probably would've fired him. I don't
think he could've done anything with the talent this year and even
last year for that matter. Personally, I'd like him to stay at BU.

Congrats to BU by the way.....The played a hell of a game last night.
Defensivly, they were all over Michigan. Michigan was getting KILLED
between the blue lines and BU came out hitting and never let up....
....tell me Parker can't coach? That was about as perfect a game plan
as you'll ever see. What was Michigan 35-3-2 going into that game?
The final score was close, but after BU tied it and then killed the
5 minute major - Michigan was never in the game. Mich's 2nd goal was
rather lucky - bouncing puck went right over the BU defenders stick and
landed right on the Michigans guy's blade.

I think the Hobey baker gets awarded today....Drury & Robitaille are
    both up for it...

Happy B-Day Mac. I didn't catch any of the B's game until the
3rd period due to helping the BIL put in a new cooktop. Pitiful is
not the word. I did tune into BU. What a show. Michigan's
second goal was scored by #9 Morrison. I believe he is also in
the running for the Hobey Baker.

I'll tune into the finals on Saturday while I'll brew a few batches
of beer with a friend.

Hey Mac....Wha happen? You were at the bar last night. Didn't
you get the Duece?

Following up on the thread regarding BU and Jack Parker....

Mac, you're right...that was one HELL of a game last night between BU
and Michigan. BU came out hitting and never stopped....Saturday's game
with North Dakota should be a cracker.

I hope Jack Parker never goes to the NHL...he is a great coach and has
the smarts/expertise/experience etc. but college is his niche and he
does quite well at it. All the NHL would do is drag him down from the
pinnacle he has achieved at BU.

As far as BU's record in the tournament I believe that this tournament
style is relatively new (last 6 years or so) and that BU has been in it
    something like 3 times.

    Jerry

PS. Watching last night's BU game puts anything I have seen this year
in the NHL to shame. Hartford who? Ooopppss...I meant Colombus
    who???....oh hell, I really meant St.Paul/Minneapolis/Minnesota
who?.....darn, Nashville who???????? Sorry Mac, Clinton lost out on
    getting the Whalers...:-)))))))
