133.1 | B's take Florida | ASDG::MCNAMARA | strange visitor...... | Mon Mar 10 1997 08:06 | 19 |
...B'a take one from the Panthers, 3-1.....real nice game all around, Carey looked good in nets with something like 26 saves....and this kid Carter (so far) looks real good, goes to the net, shoots the puck when he has to, just is showing some real nice things around the net... a guy sitting at the bar last night called him "a black Cam Neely"... I told him to hold his horses on that one just yet.....but he IS looking good, so is Carey, and methinks Allison got an assist as well.. the guy on NESN this morning said the B's are only 5 points from the playoffs....COME ON, this is NO time to start a playoff run... JEESH!!!! Carey reminds me of Gilles Gilbert, the way he flops alot, but it used to work for Gilbert, hope it continues to work for Carey... how about this SNOW, huh?? JEEES, Route 62 was like Mount Wachusett this morning.... mac

seems as though the whole chemistry on the team has changed since the trade... Consider this: Ranford, Tochette, Oates, all senior players, all leaders, all unhappy, all moaning, didn't like the organziation, didn't like the system, dind't like Kasper, so bad attidue,,, Which on a team, any team, is usually contagous... Harry trades all of em, grabs a few prospects, along with a good young goalie but,, now by trading Oates, Ranford, and Tochette, the bad karma goes away,, and also, Kasper all of a sudden has a whole team of guys who DIDN'T play with with him, and who AREN'T older than him,,, and all of a sudden, he's back to begin a coach.. Don't know, but slowly but surely, the bruins are playing like a team last few days, and they guys Harry got in the trade, are stepping up to front of the line, and producing, as well as Moger, Donato, Stumple, Roy, D. Sweeney, Mclaren all playing well.. Hell even Mallette and "I got bricks for hands" Odgers are playing intense.. Ont he other hand, one has to wonder,, the B's are still way out of a playoff spot, and pretty much have to go almost unbeaten for the rest of the season.. Then who's got the gas left after for the playoffs.... Anyways finally a fun weekend of watching the Bruins, don't recoginze too many of the players still, but what the hell,,,, at least they pulled a few Wins out on the road... Stay tuned, guys, this could be interesting, although the end result is probably still the same... /pelksta..

Also consider this... Carter and Allison both with good games have equaled the point production of Adam Oates by himself since the trade. Woopie. With Donato and Bourque out of the line-up now at least hopfully those guys will come in last. I'd like to see them play competitively so Carey stays positive but not win... It also doesn't help that other teams like San Jose and NYI suck as bad as they do... making it real difficult to stay in last. Rp

I think you're all wrong about wishing losses on the B's... regardless of wins, loses, makeing playoffs or not,, you think anything is gonna change Harry Sindens style, and decision making process,,, If you are,, You're all eating way to much fiber... Even if the Jacobs sell the team, Sinden has a great record as Gm, nobody will fire him, he'll have to retire, and he doesn't appear to be about to do that.. Ya know, when you look at it.. Sinden's been the #1 guy in Boston, since I was in Jr. High... That was a real long time ago... While Harry is in the seat, (and don't think Mr. Oconell will be any different) this is The Boston Bruins, and my guess is that'll include Steve Kasper, (much as a dissapointment that is!) as far as point production of the new guys, all I can say is so far, so good ya know Ron..

....and the Capitals lost 5-0 last night....they must B wonderin' about Tocchet down in Landover rigth about now....did Ranford play in that game also? I'm on the fence on this discussion...I *want* two good draft picks that we can sign and who will play their friggin' hearts out, but I also like to see the B's win games like this one....hmmmmm... ...is Donato out fer the rest of the season? .....I thought I heard he broke his hand....OUCH! mac
133.6 | crunch time... | PATE::NEFF | just doin' the Mad Ticker... | Mon Mar 10 1997 12:15 | 14 |
I'm really happy about this Trade - now the B's management has nothing to hide behind. They have the Team they can build and if Kasper is a real coach, they will start turning things around. Time will soon tell. _sbn

Ranford did play in the 5-0 loss, his 1st as a Cap. Teddy D. has a broken right index finger. I assume that means he can't play, but I don't know his official status. I know, I know, intellectually I know that the B's are supposed to lose, but damn, it feels so much better when they win!!! Especially when they play the whole 60 minutes. Am I imagining things, or is the whole team skating faster? It's hard to tell on TV, but it seems like the whole B's game has sped up!

It certainly looked like they were skating faster this weekend. Of course they've seemed to own the Lightning this year anyway, and the Panthers are slumping also so it's hard to tell if this if for real. It DID look like they actually cared this weekend though. Like Steve said, time will tell. Barry
133.9 | A turn in the right direction. | SUBPAC::DMITCHELL | Mon Mar 10 1997 13:51 | 24
One big difference with the changes, especially against the Panthers was the game was not in the usual SLOW MOTION (Bruin's style). The Bruins were skating well and showed some good 1-1 coverage. It's like the B's defense wasn't left sucking wind because everyone was doing pretty well at covering his man. B's are starting to jell and most players as mentioned in previous replies are stepping it up a notch. They looked pretty useless the 1st couple of games but now they have played together they're starting to show potential (not to get over excited, but at least it's a step in the right direction). The improvement in team play is soooo much better than watching most of the season before the trade. I think Oates is a great player and it hurts letting him go, but I'm over it and I think the team is headed in the right direction and the team can hopefully steadily improve. I also think Ranford is a great goalie but I was always to nervious watching him on his stomach, back, or side trying to get back to the net after flopping around (or making a great save). I think Carey is young has the tools and talent and I like the "stay on your feet to make the save" style. Overall, much happier with the trade. At least we're going the right way (only way you can go when your in the **itter). /Dave |
