| With twenty games left to the regular season I find that the ONLY
reason for watching tonight's game for ME is to see how the crowd
reacts to Adam Oates. That's the only thing that I care about seeing.
Being the hockey fan that I am, it's a sad note when I don't care that
the season is so close to being over. I understand that Tampa Bay is
slumping, so I would normally be looking forward to a Bruins win but
I'm sure that the B's will find a new and uninteresting way to lose
again tonight.

sor than behind that dirt bag Oconell,,
Good point though,,, something to watch for?!

WHY WOULD anyone at this point want Boston to win another game all
year. The only hope this franchise has is to bank on Thornton as being
another Eric Lindros and finishing last and getting him and another
top five pick from Hartford (if we are that lucky). Then maybe we would
have a few guys to start to rebuild around.
The thing that really amazes me is that Boston has played so damn bad
yet they are in a 5 way struggle to be the worst! Teams like NYI,
Sharks, LA, Tampa SUCK just as bad as Boston... How do those places
stand being so bad??? This year has not been normal for beantown and
the city is up in arms over it. How can these other places put up with
such bad hockey on a regular basis?

| Maybe I'm thinking of the Panthers slumping. I thought one of those
Florida teams was slumping. Maybe I'm wrong. I haven't been paying a
lot of attention to hockey this year. Work and family just seem to
demand more time with every passing year.
I don't actually care whether they're playing a hot team or a
slumping team. They're gonna lose anyway.

| ....wanna know what those fans going to da game tonight should do?
Hmmmmmmmmm???
when Oatsie comes out, give 'em a standing "O"...then leave!
Everyone, just leave! That would B da ballz fer sure!
Oh, and more trade rumors abound...Florida wants Oatsie, but they're
only offering a young prospective D-Man and a draft choice....
HUH?? Oatsie's, what, 14th in scoring with 64 points, and all the
Panthers want to part with is a young, inexperienced D-Man?
And forget about the draft pick, it'll B somewhere near the bottom...
oh well.....are the Celtics on tonight?? Oh wait, they suk too...
hmmmmm...looks like I'll work late after all.....bummer...

| ....well, I got the "standing O" right, but da fans stayed anyway
(sparse tho they were)...B's actually played a very entertaining game
last night, beating the once-streaking Lightning, 6-2.....Oatsie had
3 assists (now watch the offers come in...).....heck, if yer gonna
get screwed, then traded, might as well play yer best...wouldn't
surprise ma at all if Oatsie went to the Pens, 'specially with Jagr
out indefinitley with a groin pull (OUCH!).....Donato. Stumple,
Dimaio ALL played a helluva game....Ranford got run by _____________
for Tampa Bay, but then looked like he over-reacted a little, looked
bad at first for Ranford, but then wanted to come back in, so it
looks cool with Ranford...then Tallas showin' some ballz fer sure
going after _____________ for Tampa Bay, started a little jossling
match, a few punches, the crowd was eatin' it up!
And everytime Oatsie touched the puck or assisted, the fans game him
a standing "O" ....heck, WE know what side we're all on, and tell
me Pinhead wasn't steaming in his own chowdah 'cuz of that.....
B's on FOX again Saturday...nice time for a game, 3:00pm...just gettin'
home from work, pop a few.....

Dave Shaw ran Ranford
Talls tussled with John Cullen
Oates is worth Jovanovski, Mellanby & a 1st rounder from the Panthers.
I'd love to see Oates stay in Boston but there little chance of that.
Just hope Sinden gets his worth in a deal rather than getting his usual
pants pulled over his head.
Tocchet on the other hand isn't worth squat.... His trade value
decreases every week. I'd be surprized if the B's get anything more
than an ham&egger and a 2nd or 3rd round pick for him.
I can't say it enough the Bruins need to pick up Thornton in the draft
It is THE ONLY WAY they will potentially get another franchise player.
It will also be the only way they can get a potential superstar without
bumping Bourques salary again...
The Bruins 3rd and 4th lines should have players like
Donato,Moger,Stumpel, Mallette, Odgers, Heinze... this means the Bruins
are at least 5 players away from being contenders.
Players like Dimaio, Kennedy, Mcleary shouldn't even be in this league.

Jovanowski is a definite Norris trophy winner w/in 2 years.
Oates is 34. Even straight up NO ONE would make this trade.

| Oates' age is one of the factors that will prevent the Ruins from
getting anything top notch for him....I mean he's worth it but with
his age he is unfortunately past his prime. Glad to hear that the
fans supported him .. he deserves it.
Now where the hell is my putter?

| I wonder if Oates will wind up not being traded...
Kinda hard to trade the only guy on the bench
that can make a pass or finish a play... The trade
would be only because Oatsie spoke his mind, but we
can't have that,, not in the city of devine thought,,
gotta have the Management UNACCOUNTABLE for the b's
problems on the ice right ? hey it's not *THEIR*
fault right ? Right, have another blast of fantasy
Oconnel.. I think Harry's got the knee pads out,,,
well, we'll find out soon enough, trade deadline is
coming fast...
annnnnnnd. for all you hopeless optimists out there,
here's a fun fact..
B's gotta play at least .700 hockey to have a chance of a
playoff spot... And I think that predicts that all the
other teams going for the last spot in the conf. have
to play no better than .500
I can't believe someone actually had the gonads to put that
stat together... Bruins just aren't gonna get there this
year unless some miracle happens and they go on a 15 game
winning streak,, ? Hey what are them chances huh,, any takers,
and if yes, I got some beach front property in Arizona for
sale.....

| Oconnell's comments on the standing ovations that Oates got was that the fans
supported what Adam does on the ice. Basically still trying to insinuate that
us fans don't support what he does off the ice.

You made my day :-) :-) Thanks for the laugh! Have you been sharing
a bottle with Harry?
Jovanovski is the only D-man in the league that can handle Lindros and
if you want to compete in this conference (past the first round that
is) you must handle Lindros.
Consider what the Leafs got for Gilmour and what the Kings got for
Gretzky last year. The Bruins will get about the same for Oates which
is not much. Don't get me wrong, I really like Oates and without
Oates the Bruins would be....well you don't even want to think about
it. But as someone said, a 34 year old player is not going to get you
much.
And you can bet the farm that Oates will be traded. The Flyers sure could
use him (and a goalie) if they're serious about winning the cup this year.
They have enough youth that giving up some of that youth for Oates would
not hurt them too badly in the long run.
Bernie.

I'm glad I made you laugh..
You can say what you'd like. IMO Oates is a far better natural talent
with several more high production years ahead of him. Oates age has
little to do with his effectiveness. He plays on a team of nobody's
and still produces #'s that keep him in the top 10 of the league.
He's never had a serious injury and he is not a physical player so
there are little concerns about durability and #yrs left in him.
He contributes more on both sides of the line and on special
teams than all but I'd say 5 players in the league. This said I
think a promising Jovanovski, a role player Mellanby and a pick
are equal in worth.
I unlike some of you realize that hockey is becoming more of a sport
that doesn't look at dynasty's or long term goals (the Av's are all
that remain from those days). Teams today are like american investing.
Make $5today screw the opportunity to make $10 2yrs from now... I'd take
a team of immediate impact players over a team of promising talent in
today's NHL because next year you can always trade away, pay for free
agents etc... There are few longterm deals and team loyalty. Why are
the rangers still in the hunt ? This is what they do.. What about
Dallas (same thing).
So say what you'd like, if you don't get high value in return for
Oates You DON'T trade him. He is the offense on this team.
As for Jovanovski handling Lindros... last year in the playoffs
the Beezer handled Lindros along with the rest of the flyers. I really
like Jovanovski but Lindros tossed him around like a rag doll. I
wouldn't say Ed's the only D-man in the league who can handle Lindros.
