2397.0. "Win95 No Longer Boots on HiNote VP 575" by WHYNOW::NEWMAN (Protector of the Cause) Fri May 02 1997 23:09
We have just had our second new HiNote VP 575 fail in the following manner.
Both systems were running normally and had been shut down properly without any
errors, etc. When they were later powered on, the following occured.
When I power up the system the boot process completes and the Win95 splash
screen appears. Then I get the following error message
While initializing device IOS:
Windows protection error. You need to restart your computer.
Several attempts to restart the computer have not resulted in the
system booting correctly. It will, however, start up in SAFE MODE.
Both systems were running the FIS version of Win95. After rebuilding from
scratch with the supplied CDROM's everything works fine.
Anyone else see this? Any idea what might be wrong? We have A LOT more of
these on order and cannot afford to have this problem on each machine.

2397.1 | Ever used a Xircom card? | SNLV01::LEE | | Sun May 04 1997 21:29 | 4 |
| Did you happen to insert a Xircom card at any time? It seems
to leave traces of the driver.
