Hello! I have HiNote CT450 with BIOS V.1.01 (2366-9s). I want to upgrade it, because it does not work correctly with Win95. When I tried to upgrade it to V.1.42 I got "The update BIOS is older than the current BIOS" message. Can somebody provide me correct upgrade sequence (and previous BIOS versions location) or give any other tip? Thank you in advance, Alexey.

There's a reply to one of the earlier HiNote BIOS notes with the magic switch you need to specify to override this check... Steve

If you upgrade to 1.30 first then to 1.42, it should work. Bernard [Posted by WWW Notes gateway]

I finally did it (Thanks to Nat Alderman!). Here is the upgrade sequence if someone else need it: You need floppy upgrade disk with V.1.42 Have the system on charge (AC). Boot to the floppy, but hold down the left shift key so that it goes to the DOS prompt. At the A:\ DOS prompt type: FLASHB /B /OVER followed by a carriage return. This will start the BIOS update to ignore the version check and to program the boot block code. After the update, turn off the machine. When you reboot, go immediately into SETUP <fn-F3>. Enter the Default menu and select "Load Factory Default Settings". Exit and Save settings, then power-down to reboot. Alexey. |
