2329.0. "comm 1 under Nt4.0 Hinote ultra" by KAOFS::S_BAINS () Tue Mar 11 1997 16:13
I have Nt4.0 working fine on my Ultra II notebook. All is Ok but I ma
unable to open my serial port on the back of the machine. I have
enabled the port in the bios and checked the config in control panel
but alas no go when I try Keaterm. The same is true for Comm 3. I ran
NT diagnostics and it sees two serial devices with the correct address
and IRQ.
Has anyone managed to get this working?`I recently had the same
problem under win95 (my hinote is dual boot) but I installed new MMM
drives from file AGP8W95A.EXE from
http://www.pcservicenter.com/drivers/drivers.html and it fixed my
unable to open comm1 problem (alas my CD works no-more though)
When I run NT diagnostics the following is what I see under IRQ
01 i8042prt
03 serial
04 serial
06 floppy
07 ce2xps
10 auddrive
12 i8042prt
14 atdisk
15 atapi
I get the extra serial showing when I enable comm1 in the bios at
address 03f8
