| I successfully used an LCD panel with my VP535 just last week. I didn't have to
do anything special. I run at 800x600 with 256 colors. What do you have
things set at?

| I have mine set to High Color (16 bit). I'll try the 256 setting. What kind
of LCD were you using?
Thanks,
Jim

We had some fun working with the LCD panels at the Fall 1996 DECUS.
The HiNote VP 500 will drive any of the LCD panels we encountered,
but the (older, cheaper) panels often don't synch-up beyond 640x480.

| I don't remember what brand panel it was.

| Is it the display adapter that has to be set, or the monitor, or both? I
have my monitor set to std vga, 640x480, but the display adapter
(desktop area) is 800x600 with high-color 16-bit palette.
Thanks,
Jim

What is the BIOS of your VP500? I've found that some with BIOS
before 1.04 cannot display to external monitors. The latest is 1.05 on
the web.

I had to downgrade the display settings in the HiNote VP 500 from
800x600 to 640x480 before I could drive some of the reduced-features
LCD panels -- most of the reduced-features panels don't have multiple
resolution settings.
Once I downgraded to the 640x480, the LCD panels synch'd-up fine...
This was before I upgraded to V1.4 of the BIOS; these experiments
used the factory-installed Windows 96 distribution. (I've since
upgraded the BIOS and configured NT on the system.)

| On my system, the "Monitor Type" is set to "Laptop Display Panel (800x600)".
