2300.0. "Hinote VP - maximum colours that the DSTN display can do?" by JOBURG::NICOP (Nico Pretorius) Thu Feb 13 1997 10:34
Hi,
I have a problem with a Hinote VP CSS5100. When I try to
run more than 256 colours in W95 it gives me the following
error message:
There is a problem with your display settings. The adapter
type is incorrect, or the current settings do not work with
your hardware.
My first reaction was: Can this model do more than 256 colours?
Well according to the Marketing Brochures and the User Manual,
both the TFT and the DSTN can display a maximum of 64k
colours, but according Section 1-3 of the service guide the DSTN
display can do a maximum of 256 colours (as well as my experience!)
What is the "real" maximum amount of possible colours on the CSS
models?
Regards
Nico

The DSTN version of the VP is only capable of 800 x 600 at 256 colours.
The TFT version of the VP is capable of 800 x 600 at 64k colours.
I have tried to get 64k colours on the DSTN vp BUT as you state it doesn't
work.
