Our group has a number of Ultra I's going bad. The symptom is that one or more columns of pixels has gone intermittent. The result is vertical "strips" on the display. The units with the most usage have the problem. Gim

May be a problem with the flex strip to the display. We've had similar problems here - need to get MCS to check it out. Owen.

2287.3 | Ultra I losing 1.5in down right side of screen | GVPROD::tacky.geo.dec.com::geaney | Wed Feb 12 1997 08:26 | 13
This seems to be a common problem. My HiNote has recently developed this and I intermittently lose about 1.5in down the right hand side of the screen. I was in London a few weeks back and saw at least one other machine with exactly the same fault. It looks like either the flex cable is giving out or some dirt has got in the contacts somewhere (both PC's are about a year old). At least my fault seems to go away after the machines has been running for about 20 minutes - I understand however that it will soon become a permanent feature and will need a proper fix. Any engineers out there know if its the cable giving up or a bad contact???? John G (can't use it for customer demo's anymore................) |
