2113.3 | Li-ION battery as main battery | SLOAN::HOM | Mon Feb 10 1997 14:26 | 15
It appears that the same Vendor makes the VP535 as well as the Dell Latitude and the Olivetti laptop. Dell offers a Li-ION as the first battery. Would that option work in the VP535? While the second battery is nice, when you travel, chances are that you need to remove data from the laptop - you gotta have the floppy drive. Now as a former product, I suspect the party line will be given - NO, safety issues, qual issues, etc... all valid reasons. Can't hurt in asking. Gim

Just get the external floppy cable and you can run the floppy at the same time as you're using the secondary Li-Ion battery. Steve

The PCBU has never tested the Dell Li Ion main battery to determine whether it works in our VP5xx model. You do so at your own risk.

You do so at your own risk. Digital has now introduced its own Li Ion Main Battery. Part number is FR-PCP9H-BP. Gim

But is that part "certified" for use on the VP545 and "lower" models? I also see that there's a 2.1G disk listed (FR-PCP9R-BB). Steve |
