208.0. "Final Doom" by WOTVAX::HILTON (http://blyth.lzo.dec.com) Fri May 03 1996 12:58

    Final doom!!

    How much can they drag out this product!!

    From http://www.gtinteractive.com/previews/fdoom.html

    Final Doom. End of Story.

    This is the end. The end of the undead marines, the acid-drenched
    hallways, and the hell-spawned hordes. The final chapter in the
    explosive, ever-addictive Doom series. This is Final Doom, two new
    32-level episodes complete with new story lines, frighteningly
    realistic graphics, and new pulse-pounding music.

                       The Plutonia Experiment

    Every effort has been made by the nation's top scientists to close the
    seven interdimensional Gates of Hell, but one portal remains open.
    Alone, you must infiltrate the ravaged complex, defeat the demon
    Gatekeeper, and seal the last hell hole before the undead take over the
    world!

                       Evilution

    Far from Earth, the UAC recommenced their experiments on one of the
    moons of Jupiter. A spaceship, mistaken on radar for a supply vessel,
    poured hideous demons onto the base. All your comrades were quickly
    slaughtered or zombiefied. This time, it's not just about survival.
    It's about revenge.

    Shipping this spring!

208.1I agree, when will it REALLY end?SUBSYS::MSOUCYMon May 06 1996 09:1010

    Tell me about it....any look at Raven Software who put out Heretic and
    Hexen I think for Id software, or something like that. Doom comes out
    with a 4th Episode, Heretic comes out with "2" more episodes on thier
    latest registered patch! I love it because it is definitely harder in
    those two levels (can ya tell I have been playing this for hours now!).

    It is amazing that they milked this thing for soooooo long, and sooooo
    much eh? They should have given the 4th level out as a freebie after
    how many patches to BOTH doom games?
208.2oops; dropped a '/'; http://www.jumbo.com (doomcur.zip)BSS::PROCTOR_RNatural born followerWed Jul 17 1996 16:1513
    I would agree things are a bit....dragged out, nevertheless it's good
    mindless fun (BTW: see http:/www.jumbo.com for Win95 animated cursors
    that feature our favorite characters.)

    nevertheless I got the Final Doom; and it provided me with a
    Win95-based Doom2. seems to work about 80% of the time, and when it
    doesn't I get to do the three-finger-shuffle (via the reset button
    since t-f-s no longer works under W95...) and fix the problems.

    Cheers.

208.3Middle button mouse blues...FOUNDR::OUIMETTEZat was Zen, Dis is Dao...Fri Jul 19 1996 09:2214
    	I've installed Final Doom, and I can't get the middle button on my
    mouse to be recognized for anything! I can configure it in the "mouse"
    section of the configure windows, and it accepts my input (use middle
    button for forward, left for fire, right for strafe), but the middle
    button is always dead once the game starts.... Has anyone already
    solved this? It's a celebris 590, windows 95, and the mouse is a
    Logitech (I asume, 'cause the serial # starts with "LT"). Mouse works
    fine for DOOM1/DOOM2 & Quake...

        I don't want to have to retrain my fingers now! :^)

    			Many thanks,

208.4check mousie driver, and setup save settings nameBSS::PROCTOR_RNatural born followerMon Aug 05 1996 13:069
    re: .-1

    o be sure that the right (?Logitech?) mouse driver is loaded,
    o be sure that the mouse setup is saved with the "default" setting,
    	or you *will* be frustrated. for some weird reason it insisted on
    	saving the setups with some unprintable/garbage character name.
