206.0. "Modems & SirDoom Problems" by CHEFS::HARRISON () Wed Mar 13 1996 05:19
Hi,
I've been playing DoomII for sometime now in the office with others
using IPX on the LAN at lunchtimes & single player at home. Decided I
wanted to try deathmatch against others from home on occasion using my
internal US Robotics 28.8 modem.
I've got a copy of sirdoom & have run the configure utility to setup
the modem init string, com port, baud rate, game path, game options &
dialing directory. My modem uses COM 4 & IRQ 3 and works well using
Duke Nukem on a head to head deathmatch & with terminal emulators to
dial into the office. When I run sirdoom I imediately get an error
message at the top of the sirdoom screen stating "Com port test failed
(-19)". After that the init string appears & then I get an ok. However
when I dial the Game Connection BBS using alt d nothing appears to
happen. I managed to connect to the BBS using a straighforward TE so I
know the connection is ok.
What does the error code mean (-19)?
Does anyone have much experience using sirdoom or a USR 28.8 modem?
Can someone help me out?
Thanks alot.
Al
