I have also just upgraded my system from a DECpc XL5120 with 48MB of FPM RAM and a Matrox Millenium w/4MB WRAM. The disks I use are SCSI and hang off the on-board NCR810 PCI SCSI controller. The old system was 41 fps And the new system is based on a Tyan Tomcat IIIS motherboard wit 512k Pipeline burst cache with an Adaptec 2940 Ultra SCSI controller. The disks/CPU/Memory and video card are carried over from the XL5120, The performance of the new system is 57 fps and could be better if I used EDO memory instead of the 70ns FPM RAM that I'm using.
