    Anybody notice that in DOOM II, the IDSPISPOPD does not function

    The cheat IDKFA (Keys, Full ammo) is available cut down in DOOM ][ 
    you can use IDFA to give you just the full ammo and all the weapons
    but not the keys, makes the level that much more fun.  I don't think
    that this cheat gives you full life, only all the weapons, ammo and
    keys.
    
    Re: IDCLEVnn, in DOOM ][ you can use 01 to 32 there are apparently
    another few levels but you can't warp to these, this is because of the
    music attatched to each level, you can change the music using IDMUSnn (I
    think) where nn is 01 to 32, the reason for not being able to warp to
    higher levels is because if you attempt to load a music file above
    level 32 then it causes the game to crash.

I tried the procedure as indicated in .-1 to get doom1 WAD's to work under Doom2
but get a fatal error when the game starts.

Is there something more to do than replacing "ExMx"  by "MAP01" ?

No, the programme crashes during the loading so no chance to enter 
a cheat key.

If I use Doom2 external WAD's no problem at all though and I can start 
directly with the external file, ie, without "IDCLEVing"

Whoops.  I missed a key word in your post (.5) ... "doom1"

The answer is that it is impossible to get doom1 patch wads to work under
doom2 unless you run a format converter on them first.  I think there is a
discussion about this and pointers to the format converter in here somewhere
(dir/title=wad should get you there).
