| Question (and spoiler follows the FF):
I entered the library, and I see desk with four shotgun shells on top of it.
I trigger the switch in the desk and it lowers. I get the shells. But, but,
but is that all there is? I swear I heard something else moving (door, wall)
when I triggered the desk, but I guess I'm not fast enough to find it.
In the library is partition that can be triggered, lowering the bottom 25%
of said partition into the floor. However, since this gap is too small to pass
through, and you can easily walk around to the other side of the partition,
what's the point?

| Yes I seem to remember that, and wondered what on earth the point was.
Maybe it's the guys at Id having a bit of red-herring laughter :-)

| Or maybe it's intended for deathmatch use?

<lots of blank lines for folks who use windows>
The upper 75% can be raised by (either) pressing it like you would a switch
or pressing the statue/pedistal to it's left (I forget which it is but it
*can* be raised).
Get on the center pedistal (the one with the shells on it) and, from your
raised position, you can shoot the "eyes" on the wall behind the (now raised)
partition. This opens a secret panel near those "eyes". Additionally, from
the same raised position, you can shoot the "wall candle" on one of the other
walls. This will open an additional secret panel.
Personally, I keep forgetting that some switches can be shot and I usually
miss them. I watched my son do this level and it seemed obvious to him that
he should shoot at the walls.

| yeah! my son just sort of *knew* to shoot the candle and is quite
puzzled at my mental block at shooting stuff. Could be random but
definitely weird. he says that when you push something, it doesn't
open, & you don't grunt - shoot it.
