31.1 | confused by ending | DAVE::MITTON | Token rings happen | Wed Aug 03 1994 16:44 | 10 |
| Is there anything you can "do" after you step on the star transporter?
(shareware version v1.2) You end up somewhere in the dark and can
shoot for a few seconds, but you always die (or do you?).
Since it gives you the end of the series message, but no score, I'm a
little unclear. (was there any good use for the partial invisibility?)
Or are you just doomed to die there?
Dave.

| I once played a WAD file that replaced the 1st level (I'm obviously not using
the shareware version) , that gave me a BFG2000 to play with. So for the Hell
of it, I continued on to the end-game with BFG in hand. I STILL was unable to
do anything but die. So I presume that all one can do there is die. :-)

Well, you can survive, provided you cheat a little. ;^)
You see the thing is God Mode don't work... It gets turned off
when you warp into the area... So, before you step on the star
use the idbehold cheat to give yourself a light-amp and an
invincibility... Then have fun...
Bye,
Mike.

| If you use a WAD editor, you can look at the section
you land in, and find that the floor you're stuck on
has flags to hit you with a 20% health loss for every
second you stand on it.
All the beasties around you don't help any, of course...
AND you're trapped by uncrossable Linedefs...
Bummer of a way to end the game, eh?

31.5 | when you're bored | DAVE::MITTON | Token rings happen | Tue Aug 09 1994 19:26 | 11 |
| .3: Great, So I turn that stuff on, and when I get there use the
rocket launcher to do in the baddies. Then turn on noclipping mode
and walk out before the invincibility wears off.
If you turn on the cheat for the complete map, you find this room is
outside the "star" walls just a little way, walk back and you can roam
around "forever". ;-}
Dying in that room is the only exit.
Dave.

31.6 | teh last level? | ROMSLS::MASSONE | | Mon Aug 22 1994 04:39 | 12 |
| Is Phobos Anomaly the last level of the only mission in the shareware
version?
I killed the two monsters with the rocket launcher, and walking around I
found the mechanic stair raising up after pushing the button on the
wall.
At the end of the stair I found a platform with a strange picture, and
walkin on it... I always been killed.
I think there is another level after it, but I did'n find another exit.
What about it?
Thank
Andrea

31.7 | Secret base ?? | IOSG::CHEWTER | | Mon Aug 22 1994 04:47 | 10 |

That is the last normal room in this episode, you may be seeing one
room that you have yet to complete, this is probably the secret milatry
base although I can't remember if this is in the shareware version or
not.
Dying is the only way out of this one :-(
Enjoy,
-John.

31.10 | 3rd level? | ROMOIS::MASSONE | | Mon Aug 22 1994 09:44 | 9 |
| Thank all,
but what does it mean "IS accessible from the 3rd level" ?
3rd level of difficoulty? I played the shareware version at 3rd level.
I found also the secret door in the room of the right monster in which
there is a switch for an elevator, but also coming back was useless.
Any other hints?
Thank
Andrea

| No, I mean whatever difficulty level you are playing at, level 3 of
the 1st episode has a (secret) exit to the secret military base. Do you
want me to tell you how to get at it ?.... I'm sure it's documented
elsewhere in this conference, actually.......

you mean E1M3 I think.
In E1M3 note there is no reference to that secret exit.
May anyone help me?

31.13 | Read the FAQ! | KAOA09::KAOP97::SOWREY | Son of Worf | Tue Aug 23 1994 09:17 | 9 |
| You're probably gonna hate this... but read the FAQ
(it's in here somewhere), there's a section on secrets,
and you're going to need to know which secret to access
to get to the secret level...
Geoff
BTW - the explanation is a bit complex and nasty to
reproduce when it's already been written down...

How do I kill the minotaurs?
I've tried everything I've got including the chainsaw just for the fun
of it but nothing works on them.

| I remember (oh so many years ago! - it seems) when I first came across
this level, I did it this way (no joke!) -
Came up on the lift with rocket launcher in hand, stepped forward
(trigger doors to open) and layed into them with rockets like no-bodies
business! Sometimes I could do it, sometime I got killed..... and the
spectres were another thing after that....
I imagine the _best_ way to do it is to get out your rocket launcher,
and run away from them.... then turn and throw a few rockets in their
direction. Keep side-stepping to dodge the green balls of flame they
throw. When they look like they're getting a bit close, run behind them
and get some distance between you, then turn around and start all over
again....
As for the spectres (invisible monsters) ? I'd clear these little
blighters out of the way first....

I tried the rocket launcher bit to noavail. Running away sounds like a
good idea, I'll try that this weekend.
Thanks.

| I think I can also remember this level (just about) :-)
I found it important to kill all the spectres first. It's all too easy to use the
rocket launcher, and have it blowing up in your face.
Try flicking the switch which raises you to the platform, placing you in front
of the barons little rooms. DONT move forward, just move to the left with your
back to the wall to protect yourself, then use your desired weapon (I prefer the
shotgun) and wipe out ALL the spectres first.
Once done. Hit the run key and leg it to the far side leaping over the wall. Then
basically do as suggested, ie use your rocket launcher to blast the barons away,
dodging their fire (the invisibility - behind the barrels ? - is useful here).

I basically use .18's methodology. I come up to the platform with
the chaingun. Blow away all the spectres first, then select the
rocket launcher. Run straight ahead between the two buildings
and keep going. Turn around real fast when you get to the point
where the two walls intersect, and launch a few rockets to nail
the remaining spectres that will be running towards you. Then
take out the barons.
