381.0. "Locating MY missionaries: Hellllppp !" by DASXPS::MWEBSTER () Wed Apr 10 1991 18:15

    Hello !

I wondered if anyone has any suggestions on how to get a hold
of addresses from former missionnaries ...

I'm trying to get a hold of the missionnaries who baptized me
way back when ...21 years ago ...! (I'm still just a baby though !!!)
I would like to bear my testimony to them in turn and in case they
are no longer active inthe Church help them if I can.

I was baptized in France in 1970.

I called the BYU Alumni Association and got one address, but I
haven't received a reply and I'm not even sure that I had the
right guy as there were several listings ...!
If you have any ideas on the subject, please let me know, either
by answering inthis file (if that's allright with Allen or
by sending me a mail directly to CSLALL::MWEBSTER)

Thanks for your support ...and continue the good work in this notesfile
I love to read it when I can ...for some reason it never seems
    outdated ...!

    with sisterly love
    Mathilde

    Hi,

I think it would help if you would put the names of the missionaries in
here since there is a slight chance that someone here might know
someone who knows someone who went to France....

In 1975 I worked for the Presiding Bishopric's Office, and had a
lot of contact with the Membership Department. At that time you
could send in a request to locate someone and they would help you
out. You had to include as much information as possible and a stamped
envelope with your letter of inquiry. They would try to locate
the person using their files, put the address on the stamped envelope
    and mail it.

I do not know if they still do this, however. You can always try
    it.

381.3Membership dept. - the way to go...RIPPLE::MORRIS_RARandy Morris, SMARTS ProjectThu Apr 11 1991 13:4916
Our Stake President (here if Federal Way, WA Stake) talked
recently about getting a form letter from the Membership
Department notifying him that there was a member trying to contact
him, and giving the member's name and address. It further stated
that he was under no obligation to contact the member, but that
the member had asked to get in contact with him. It turned out to
be a person that he had baptized on his mission. He ended up
contacting the person and visited for a while on the phone finding
out the the member had married, gone through the temple, was
    raising a family...

Anyway, there should be something that the Membership Department
can do for you. I'd contact your membership clerk or bishopric
for help (there may even be a form to fill out and send in).

381.5THANK YOU !!!!!DECXPS::MWEBSTERWed May 08 1991 13:1820
I have just recently received a letter from ...my favorite
missionnary ... Iwas baptized 21 years ago and was looking
for him and some of you offered some very good suggestions ...!

    THANK YOU !!!!

It was nice to read his excitement at receiving my letter with
the pictures of my kids and he wrote back with some news of his
own and it was nice seeing his family as well !!!
He's still very active in the Church and it warmed his heart
to have me bear my testimony to him ...after so many years ...!

I really love the fellowship in our Church, as it always makes me
feel as though I'm getting a glimse into eternity ...so much love
shared so freely and for a worthy purpose ...! My heart is full ...!

May the lord bless ALL of you !
    Love
    Mathilde
