Here's a question for you all,

I've had occasion to read the CHRISTIAN and CHRISTIAN PERSPECTIVE notes
conferences and have been interested in some of the entries. Since I
am a convert to the LDS church, I am interested in personal testimonies
and others' stories of how they turned to which church and why.

My question(s): Is it wrong to do this? Also I have been tempted to
enter some replies in some of the notes, especially 3 of them:

*I am looking for a church to belong to. Any suggestions?
*Dear SDAs, JW, and Mormons--what do YOU believe?
    	*Personal Testimonies--what's yours?

The reason that I haven't entered any notes in either of these
conferences is because I am afraid that I might cause some contention,
but perhaps that's small-minded of me, and also not giving others
    credit.

I love this notesfile, and notice frequent entries and questions
entered in by non-LDS. (My feeling is that that's great!) I just
wondered how you all felt about entering notes or answering notes
    in other religion notes conferences.

    Thanks for any replies,

    Jane

Hi Jane,

You might be interested in knowing that this conference began several years
ago as a note in the Christian conference. I was reading the Christian
conference and came across a statement that Mormons didn't believe in the
Atonement of Christ. I responded to that, and others came in and asked
questions about what Mormons believe. I started a note on my beliefs as a
Mormon (note 4 in this conference) and a second note for discussion. After
a while Rich Kotter joined in, and we discussed Mormonism with quite a number
of people. Eventually, the moderators of Christian decided that a discussion
of one denomination was to narrow of a topic for that conference, and they
asked Rich and I to discontinue our discussion. After prayer and discussion,
we decided to form our own conference and MORMONISM was born.

Whether you should continue to read those other conferences is a matter
between you and the Lord. However, if you decide to do that, be prepared for
attacks against the Church, and be prepared to defend the Church. Many of the
notes in this conference were created to discuss specific attacks made against
the Church and should be a good resource to you. There are many fine,
spiritual people in the world who aren't LDS, and they have beautiful
testimonies of Christ. If I had more time I would also be reading the other
conferences, but my time is limited and I'm only reading this conference and
a couple of others.

> *Dear SDAs, JW, and Mormons--what do YOU believe?

If you will MAIL me the conference and note # of the question about what
Mormons believe, I will post a reply pointing to this conference. I don't
know how other LDS feel, but my opinion is that discussions of Mormonism
should take place in this conference rather than in other conferences, because
we already have many answers posted.
