| I've seen ads in some LDS related (not Church sponsored) magazines for nannies.
I think the ads were from placement places trying to recruit new nannies.
The ENSIGN for February 1988 has an article on nannies. (see note 74.2)

| There are two or three companies, not church related that provide nannies.
They recruit from different areas where they have been succesful in the
past. Utah is one of those areas.
The Church as no means of helping someone get an LDS nannie. In fact a few
years ago theyput out an article in the Ensign suggesting that a girl
consider very carefully the decision of being a nanny since it seems so
romantic to travel to a new area and be away from the control of one's
own parents, but they should realize that it is hard work, and that the
girl becomes subject to the control of a new set of parents/bosses.
There are indeed quite a few living in New England, and any of them could
tell you of the firm that they used to find that job.
I looked into this for a co-worker a few years ago. I finally decided
to keep out of it. and just to refer him to such agencies.
Have a good day,

363.3 | Contacts within the Morman Church | ASABET::MINER | | Wed Aug 07 1991 12:34 | 19 |
| Hello,
I have been raised around mormons all my life. I understand the
relegion very well, even though I am catholic. I am expecting a baby
this Sept. and am looking for a live in nannie. Can anyone give me
names of Bishops or contacts in the church so I can inquire about
nannies. My husband and I live in Mass. and really would love to have
a nannie that has good family relations and beliefs help us raise our
child.
Any help is appreciated
Thanks
Mary

| Hi Mary,
Because the "nanny business" is a commercial venture, I expect most Bishops
would not want to get involved with recommendations. You might call the
Salt Lake City Chamber of Commerce and ask them for referrals to companies
who provide nannies. The directory assistance # for Utah is (801) 555-1212.
There are several LDS-related publications (not published by the Church) that
carry recruiting ads from nanny companies. Perhaps members of this conference
who subscribe to those publications can post names & phone numbers of the
companies.
