11.0. "Favorite Bible Teachings" by CACHE::LEIGH (Feed My sheep) Fri Apr 14 1989 08:22

The Bible is the "Book of books". Let us share our favorite scriptures
from that priceless book and strengthen each other.

11.1My goalCACHE::LEIGHFeed My sheepFri Apr 14 1989 08:496
When the going gets rough, I think of the love that Jesus Christ has for
me and of the ultimate goal he gave me. I hang on to that love and that
goal until I'm able to get on my feet again.

     Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven
     is perfect.  (Matthew 5:48)
11.2What comfort this sweet sentence gives!FEISTY::QUAYLEFri Apr 14 1989 09:199
    As I [believe I] mentioned in the inspirational thoughts note, the
    following is one of my favorites and a source of great comfort:

    	These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have
    	peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good
    	cheer; I have overcome the world.

        John 16:33

11.3meditate on this, today!NAAD::BARNETTEMatthew 7:1Tue Apr 18 1989 10:179

    	"Judge not, that ye not be judged! For with the judgement that
    ye pronounce will ye be judged, and the measure you give will be
    the measure you receive. Why do ye see the speck in thy brother's
    eye, but see not the log in thine own eye? How can ye say to thy
    brother, 'let me take the speck out from your eye', when there is
    the log in thine own eye?"

    Matthew 7:1-2
11.4Just reach out!BLKWDO::D_PYLEThu Apr 20 1989 00:0733

    	This scripture comes from the book of Job 19:23-27. This
    	scripture is my favorite and came to me in answer to my
    	pleading with the Lord for understanding.

    		23. "O that my words were now written! O that
    		      they were printed in a book!

    		24. "That they were graven with an iron pen and
    		      lead in the rock forever!"

    		25. "For I know that my Redeemer liveth, and that
    		      He shall stand at the latter-day upon the
    		      earth."

    		26. "And though after my skin worms destroy this
    		      body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:"

    		27. "Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes
    		      shall behold, and not another: though my
    		      reins be consumed within me."

    	The suffering and trials of this life are short-lived in relation
    	to the eternities. I know that by having faith and putting our
        trust in the Lord we will, as Job, triumph over our adversities.
    	We just have to hang in there. Our Heavenly Father wants what's
    	best for us and He will not let us be overcome if we reach out
    	to Him! JUST REACH OUT and He'll be there to cradle you!

    	God bless,
    	Dave

11.5If thy brother trespass against thee...RIPPLE::KOTTERRIRich KotterWed Nov 08 1989 10:123
    Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him
    his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast
    gained thy brother. (Matt 18:15)
11.6The fruit of the SpiritRIPPLE::KOTTERRIRich KotterWed Nov 08 1989 10:167
    But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering,
    gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there
    is no law.

    If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be
    desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
    (Gal 5:22-23,25-26)
11.7SEEKING PEACE?NWD002::CURTIS_COTue Feb 01 1994 12:576
    "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not to thine own
    understanding."
    "In all thy ways, acknowlege Him, and He shall direct thy path."

    (Proverbs 3:5-6)
