| | Hi Francis,
Welcome to the conference!
Note 98 gives the mailing address of a short-wave radio station that broadcasts
music by the Tabernacle Choir. You can contact them for their frequency and
time schedules. Short-wave receivers are relatively inexpensive, and even
though they are AM and there is noticable fading on short-wave signals, the
broadcasts are nice.
Records, tapes, and CD's of the Tabernacle Choir are readily available in the
US, so I guess that your first objective is to locate a mail-order dealer who
handles orders from other countries. My son Chad recently returned from Germany
as a Mormon missionary; I'll ask him if he knows of mail-order dealers. Music
is one of his interests.
Copyright laws don't allow us to copy records onto tapes and send them to you,
but I'm sure there must be mail-order music dealers--there seem to be mail-order
dealers in everything else.
As a side note, many years ago I was a missionary in West Virginia. One day
we were going "door to door" talking with people, and a woman invited us to
have lunch. She explained that she enjoyed the Tabernacle Choir, and giving
us lunch was her way of thanking the Choir.

  Hi
While I was in Germany it seemed to me that sound recordings of the
Tabernacle Choir were readily available in the better music stores.
Of course, one cannot expect them to be as popular and available as
  today's pop music.
Another route to finding something would be to ask some members of the
church in your local area where it can be found -- they are sure to have
some themselves. (Also asking the missionaries couldn't hurt, at least they
could refer you to a member -- missionaries you can't miss when you see
  them.)
In Denmark there is a society ("user's" group) for the choir started by
a nonmember fan of the group. They are sure to be able to help you.
I don't know their address though.
If I recall correctly, CBS is the choir's recording label.
Last but not least, if you are able to receive the AFN US military radio
broadcasts, they also have the Music and The Spoken Word broadcasts on
  Sunday.

A call to Deseret Book here in Mesa, Az Yielded the following
        information:

Columbia, CBS is the Recording company for the choir.
More information could be obtained by writing to:

	Columbia Records, CBS
    	51 W 52 St
N.Y.,N.Y. (I didn't get the zip. Maybe some one from that
end of the continent could supply that)

I am sorry I could not get more ordering information than that.

There is a 50,000 Watt clear channel station in Salt Lake City
that transmits on the AM band at 1160 KHz. It's call letters are
KSL. It covers the U.S. but I have not heard of it reaching Europe.
The short wave broadcast should cover the world.

I lived in Salt Lake once and remember that Bonneville International
handled much of the LDS media requirements. The choir must have
    a separate contract or agreement.

| | I'd like to thank you all for your very quick inputs ; I've just
written to the broadcast address and CBS records you supplied .

May be this is a bit strange , but I could feel through your answers
your caring and your friendship . Please do believe I really appreciate
    that .

I'm going to close this with my best beloved song 'THE LORD IS MY
SHEPHERD' ; may HE be YOURS as well 'till next time .

    your brother in GOD

This is just to say that I finally got the records I was interested
in ; one of them shows the whole choir in a circle fashion , pipes
of the organ in the background , organist right in the middle of
the choirist and the conductor in front of everybody ; I'd say just
this picture desserves minutes of thinking .

Songs are just great , really what I expected to follow my evening
    family bible reading .

I've got as weel the brodcasting ( radio ) but reception is very
    bad some day .

Anyway , I'm very happy , thanks to God and to your inputs of course
.Again a warm thank you .

| | Thanks, Francis, for letting us know of your success. Music is one of the
grandest ways of worshiping God.
We all feel like we were part of your quest for the records, and we would be
interested in hearing how you obtained them.

| | Hi again ,

I just wrote a letter to CBS ( address given in .3 ) ; they sent
to me their catalog ----> I went to FNAC ( a large disk store in
    Paris ) with the references I've choosen , and that's it .

Should anybody need a precise disk ref , please let me know and
I'll happily give it to you .

My last discovery by the way is a complation of the best 20th
century choir music ( by MTC of course ) which is in my opinion
excellent though very different from the hymns .

I would like to say again how greatful I am to you all who did
help me along my quest .

    Francis
