4334.0. "Mail notify to non ALL-IN-1 system ..." by TAV02::CHAIM (Semper ubi Sub ubi .....) Mon Jul 11 1994 11:54

A customer has two nodes each with its own system etc. They do share some
disks. One node runs ALL-IN-1, the other doesn't.

Has anyone ever written some application which can notify a user running on the
non-A1 node that he/she has received A1 mail.

Thanks,

Cb.

    Surely you don't need a spearate application, since the new mail
    broadcast is done cluster wide, so if they are logged in, they'll be
    notified.

Will this work even if the two nodes are running separate systems and have
separate SYSUAF.DAT files?

Thanks,

4334.3Dunno - Try it? Ask VMS?IOSG::PYEGraham - ALL-IN-1 Sorcerer's ApprenticeTue Jul 12 1994 11:0010
    I don't know for sure, maybe it depends on whether you have a SYSUAF
    record in both files with the same account name. Get them to try:

    	REPLY/USER=CHAIM/BELL "New ALL-IN-1 mail from Graham Pye"

    and see if it comes out. You might like to ask the VMS gurus intheir
    notesfile what will happen. I can let you have the full code of our
    $BRKTHRU call if necessary. Actually, I think I posted it once before.
