4307.0. "Deleting Housekeeping records?" by TROOA::GILBERT () Thu Jun 30 1994 17:16

I can't believe I can't figure this out myself, but how do you clean up/get rid
of housekeeping job completion records. A customer is starting to implement
the Update Addresses housekeeping procedure and wants to get rid of the
messages from earlier jobs. When I try to use Delete, it says I can't delete
a completed job.

What am I doing wrong, or can you get rid of those completion records?

The description in .0 is not very clear. Do you mean:
    a) 'messages' from earlier jobs, i.e. exception reports to
Manager or Administrator? (easy to delete)
    b) the UPDATE_MAIL_ADDRESSES_SM.LOG* report in OA$LOG: ? - in which case
deal with as Graham suggests in .1 (unless you have the log file filter
as in V3.1, in which case, delete from the Index of Logs).
    c) the 'record' of the job held in the SA_GENERIC_UTILITY_SCHEDULE
dataset, and displayed via ADM SI PUA ? In this case, there is no
Delete option off the form SI$GEN$UTIL, so you will have to call the
scheduling form directly (either SA_GENERIC_UTILITY_SCHEDULE or
SM_GENERIC_UTILITY_SCHEDULE), select the old job record (use a FIND to
display the NBS dates (the key record)) and delete it.
    Hope this helps.

Dave,

Thanks, (c) was the correct situation. The base note wasn't very clear. I
know how to delete log files (thanks anyway, .1) and it was the records you
mentioned that I'll have to get rid of. Maybe I can write them a little menu
that will make the job easier.

    Hi Peter.
    >> Maybe I can write them a little menu that will make the job easier.
...and when you've done it, please copy me - the SI area could do with
    some attention. :-)
    cheers
