4247.0. "AUTOMATIC DOCUMENT TRANSFER" by ISIDRO::TORRECILLA (take a walk on the wild side) Fri Jun 10 1994 10:37

    Hello,

ALL-IN-1 has the option to transfer documents from WPS-PLUS to ASCII, but
doing it document by document. My customer has lots of documents that
would like to transfer using a quick way, not selecting one, doing DT,
SV, etc. Has anyone developed an UDP which does this directly with all
    the documents, or something similar.

    Thanks,

    Nieves

    .FX FOR CAB$ DO COPY OA$CURDOC_FILENAME A.TXT

The above line (untested) should do what you want.....

BUT what you will do with the many versions of the A.TXT file, I don't
    know!

ALL-IN-1 uses a File Cabinet structure - you can use long titles, and
place documents into a convenient folder, which can then be placed into
a drawer.... This is not easy to mimic within a VMS directory
structure, and IMPOSSIBLE within a PC / DOS style....

    So, Repeating Paul.... Why?

Of course, it would be possible to build a loop which would create a
filename from the subject or title, and even put it into a directory
which corresponds to something in the title.

In addition, if you are trying to convert the system to some other
product, it may be possible to write a script to directly convert the
documents into the correct format for that product. So, you see, the
best method is dependent on your goal.
