Here is the situation:

I am teaching a class for ALL-IN-1 System Mgmt.  When any of the
students went in to their accounts (A1MGR1-15) and tried to go thru
PROFILE.DAT, using either SM MUA or <FORM PROFIL when they hit
<CR> to save the record their process would hang.  If I log into
the MANAGER account the same thing would happen.

However, if I tried to edit the MANAGER account or any other
account (A1PROG7 for example) the system would come back and say
that you couldn't be authen..... Which is because DDS wasn't
running.  That is fine.

I went in and changed OA$DDS_PRIME to "0" and the accounts (A1MGR) were
updated with no problem.  But as soon as I set it back to "1"
then it would hang again.

So the next thing I tried was to start DDS, at that point all of
the accounts (A1MGR1-15) were able to be editted without any
problem.  

My question is what could it possibly be on those 15 accounts
that are making them hang like that?  And if the problem were
really with DDS then none of the accounts including the MANGER
and the A1PROG7 accounts should work.  

I am running V3.0 of ALL-IN-1 and V3.2 of Message Router.  I
would appreciate any help.

    My guess is that the process only hang when modifying accounts (A1MGR1
    - 15) with MAIL DIRECTORY set to Y. This is because when DDS *hasn't* 
    been started or the DDS processes are not in the system, ALL-IN-1 still
    trys to access DDS to update the record. A manual $MC MBMAN SH DDS
    SUB/name=* will probable hangs too.
    
    The accounts that works alright were those with MAIL DIRECTORY set to
    N. (Manager & A1PROG7)              
    
    Check their profile. I bet they were created from different template,
    one with Mail Directory enabled while those that don't hang (Manager &
    A1PROG7) has it disabled.

    The accounts A1PROG7 and the MANAGER account do have the MAIL DIRECTORY
    field set to yes.  That is why they are getting the message that they
    couldn't be authenticated in the mail directory.  I verified in the
    template and on the accounts that the field was set.  
    
    There must be something specifically wrong with the A1MGR accounts. 
    Otherwise the other accounts should also be hanging.  It is probably
    something simple, but driving me crazy.
