Hi, I have a customer who had a problem with the index file in the disk where the mail area was stored. The problem was that the fetcher started giving errors because the INdex file header was full and no files could be created. But despite of the error , the fetcher didn't stop running .. so the users received messages with only the header , there was no content in the message. And the fetcher didn't stop running. The customer after some time realized the problem and stopped the fetcher and sender, but some messages were lost. He complained about that ... The question is ....Shouldn't the fetcher stop when it received the error that the message file could not be created in the mail area ? Is this a problem of 3.0A or this is a restriction ? Thanks .. Marcia

4196.1 | Probably a problem, unlikely to be solvable in V3.0 | IOSG::MARSHALL | A glitch in reality | Tue May 24 1994 18:06 | 6 |
Hmmm, first time I've heard of it occuring in V3.0A. All this sort of stuff has been tightened up in 3.1 (following a couple of spectacular incidents early in field test!). I think it very unlikely there would be a patch or workaround for V3.0(A) Scott |
