    Hi there,
I have this user reporting the following problem using Internet,

     Send Failure Notification

"ALL-IN-1 was unable to send your message off node posted on
Message titled: Welcome to Digital via the internet !

REASON: %EMD-I-SEND_COUNT_EXCE, SENDER re-try count exceeded

Could someone tell me what the problem is and/or tell me where
I might find some information about %EMD- messages in general.

    Rgds.

There should be some help on this in the Mail Management Guide.

What sometimes happens is that the .NBS files created by ALL-IN-1 can be rejected
by Message Router. So you should check the OA$MTI_ERR logfile and maybe the
.NBS files themselves.

4181.2What was the addressAIMTEC::WICKS_AAtlanta's Most (In)famous WelshmanThu May 19 1994 17:1910
actually this EMD one isn't in the MMG there's a bunch of newer (post
    1985) ones still missing.

STARS has some explainations on possible causes for this but it would
depend on what address you were using i.e did it start with an
    underscore or SMTP% or ....

4181.3Internet addresses can be fairly bizarreIOSG::SHOVEDave Shove -- REO2-G/M6Thu May 19 1994 19:0319
It can be quite tricky getting sends to Internet addresses to work
(either from ALL-IN-1 or from VMSmail) because they can contain any
character without exception, and this sometimes upsets the parsing.

If you're on an MTS node, you should be able to address to

    internet-address@Internet

so a CompuServe user can be reached by

    [email protected]@internet

but you may need quotes for some more complex addresses. (From VMSmail
    you almost always need quotes).

Let us see the address that's giving problems and we might have a
    better idea.

    Dave.

    Hi again,

Sorry it took so long to get back.

The problem was a couple of bad addresses in a distribution list, the
funny part however was that when we had 20 addresses in the
distribution list all deliveries was disrupted, I would have expected
the system to disregard the bad addresses and send the good ones, but
this behaviour did not occure untill we cut the distribution list down to 5
    addresses.

I do not know why this is happening, if anyone have an idea please let
me know. Just as a matter of interest.

    Best Rgds.
