4168.0. "Problem with comma tab marker on German system" by RTOEU::RTOEU::DAGSPC::DEGERTON (Dagmar Egerton @RTO, 865-3553) Mon May 16 1994 14:45

We just upgraded our first internal system to ALL-IN-1 V3.0 here in
Germany. We run a dual-language system, with English as the primary
language and German as an additional language.

Users have begun reporting problems using the "," in their rulers from
German ALL-IN-1/WPS-PLUS. The comma as a tab marker is no longer
recognized, and they are forced to enter a "." instead. However,
numbers in German are expressed as nnn.nnn,nn (the reverse of English).
The result of this is that numbers are not aligned properly.

For example:

Ruler should be:

L----T------------------,----------R
     Line item 1 105,90DM
     Line item 2 1.400,00DM
		   ----------
	Total 1.505,90DM

Ruler instead only works as follows:

L----T------------------.----------R
     Line item 1 105,90DM
     Line item 2 1.400,00DM
		   --------------
	Total 1.505,90DM

Someone tested the same on a German-only V3.0 system and was able to use
the comma tab marker without any problems.

Any ideas on how to resolve this?

Thanks in advance,

Dagmar Egerton

    Dagmar,

Call the german CSC? there are lots of WPS-PLUS changes since V3.0
(which is over 2 years old) you may want to upgrade to V3.0A and see if
    the errors go away.

    regards,
