4132.0. "MAIL CREATE/OPEN/NOSEND create unwanted control codes" by CROCKE::YUEN (Banquo Yuen, Darwin Australia) Wed May 04 1994 10:22

I use MAIL CREATE/OPEN/NOSEND to create a mail in an application,
the customer is using WordPerfect, the problem is the empty
WordPerfect file created is not exactly empty, it gets some
left, right margine, tab set ... etc control codes. But
if I create a mail using MAIL CREATE/NOSEND, those control
    codes will not be there.

Why is there the control codes when I use the /OPEN qualifier?

    Thanks

To provide more information. When I use the /TEMPLATE qualifier with
a WordPerfect template, I find the all the WordPerfect attributes
originally in the WordPerfect template has lost and those
annoying control codes come after a plain text version of the template
    in the mail.

4132.2One down - anyone for #2?IOSG::SHOVEDave Shove -- REO2-G/M6Wed May 04 1994 11:059
The answer to the first question is that ALL-IN-1 assumes that you're
going to use MAIL TEXT '...' operations to add some text, so it sets up
initial rulers or whatever to allow this to work.

I'm not sure what would cause your second problem - it sounds as though
the WordPerfect template is being read throuogh the text dataset
    mechanism and converted to ASCII.

4132.3how to get rid of themCROCKE::YUENBanquo Yuen, Darwin AustraliaThu May 05 1994 09:579
Can I get rid of those control codes?

What I have done is to invoke a command file which invoke
wordperfect to edit the file with a macro to clear everything
in the file. But I just want to know if there is a nicer way to
    do it.

    Thanks
