I am running V3.0 on a VMS 5.5-2 system. I have the following situation: A user has his drawer MAIN pointing to dec$disk:[MMOREIRA.A1V2], which is the normal location in our system. He also has another drawer called PRINCIPAL pointing to the same directory and the document count is duplicated. (He doesn't know how this happened). Before we discovered that the drawers were pointing to the same location, he tried to delete the drawer PRINCIPAL and its contents. The contents were deleted, but not the drawer. The next problem was that all the documents in the drawer MAIN disappeared. We restored his ALL-IN-1 area and documents were recovered. So, now he has two drawers (MAIN and PRINCIPAL) and a duplicate count of documents. Any suggestions to solve this problem ? Thanks in advance, RUI

re. -1 When you say he has "two drawers" do you mean that he has a) two entries in his FILECAB.DAT pointing to the same drawer, or b) two entries in PARTITION.DAT pointing to the same directory? To find out, do an IAD from the SM MFC MD menu. If two separate entries for [usename]MAIN and [username]PRINICAL appear then there are two records in PARTITION. If only [username]MAIN appears then it is likely that he has somehow re-added his MAIN drawer into his file cabinet with a name of PRINCIPAL. IOS should prevent this but I've had it happen when I add the drawer using Teamlinks. If a) is true, then try using the RDR option on the DRM menu to get rid of the PRINCIPAL drawer. If this doesn't work, try <WRITE DELETE FILECAB %key="PRINCIPAL". If b) is true, delete the additional record from the partition; <WRITE DELETE PARTITION %KEY="[username]PRINCIPAL" Andy Joyce CSC Sydney |
