4124.2 | remove everything! | FRAMBO::HOFMANN | Stefan Hofmann, IST FiWi @FRS | Mon May 02 1994 08:09 | 13 |
| While I cannot understand why anybody wants to do this, here is what I
can recall from our installation testing. You should
- stop and remove all ALL-IN-1 images
- remove libraries and application symbols
- stop all ALL-IN-1 detached processes
- delete all batch jobs (sender, fetcher, housekeeping)
- deassign logicals OA$* from LNM$SYSTEM_TABLE and OA$*_TABLE
- remove ALL-IN-1 accounts and identifiers from UAF
- delete all ALL-IN-1 files from SYS$SYSTEM and SYS$LIBRARY
... I hope I didn't forget something important ...

4124.3 | Its really something !! | HTSC19::SIMONLAU | | Tue May 03 1994 11:39 | 16 |
| Stefan,
Thanks a lot for your info.
Do you mean that I have to do everything (on your list) manually before
installation ?
Would there be any side-effect if I omit something ?
Would the installation procedure check for me ?
Thanks a lot.

4124.4 | has been done before | FRAMBO::HOFMANN | Stefan Hofmann, IST FiWi @FRS | Wed May 04 1994 08:11 | 17 |
| Hello Simon,
yes, you should execute these steps manually (or in a procedure)
Maybe you can in fact omit one or the other step, but if you really
want to be sure you install on a "clean" ALL-IN-1-free system....
The installation checks a lot of these things and I can think of two
types of problems you might run into
1. installation may abort because it finds remaining parts of former
ALL-IN-1 installations.
2. installation finds existing ALL-IN-1 elements and assumes they
belong to versions lower than V2.3, because usually customers
upgrade. I cannot foresee what problems this may create, that's
why I recommend to clean the system before installation.
