Hello, I have a customer who is using ALL-IN-1 V3.0 (with MUPA) and TeamLinks V2.0. He is having the following problem with Delete Drawer from TL : 1. From IOS (VT), create a drawer "Drawer 1" - user can see the drawer from IOS (VT) and TL 2. From TL, Delete Drawer "Drawer 1" - drawer disappeared from TL display 3. Re-enter TL, drawer "Drawer 1" re-appeared - cannot access it ! 4. From IOS (VT), FC DRM I, there is an entry for "Drawer 1", but the info of the drawer said Cannot access : no such drawer. The VMS directory of the drawer was deleted. 5 From TL, create new drawer "Drawer 2" in IOS file cabinet. 6. Cannot delete drawer from TL or IOS (VT) - unable to delete the drawer directories. I had a look at the file protection and found the following : For drawer.dir created from TL : (RWE, RWE,E,E) For drawer.dir created from IOS (VT) : (REWD, RWED,,E) (Default_protection : RWED,RWED,,E) Is there a limitation/restriction regarding to drawers that I have missed out ? thanks & regards, Sau Ha

Sau Ha, There are a number of problems associated with creating drawers from one client and then attempting to delete them from the other. The problem lies in the File Cabinet Server (From TeamLinks) creates drawers with NODE:: in the drawer specification in FILACAB.DAT, whereas from IOS this is 0::. If you attempt to delete a TL created drawer from IOS, the client is looking for 0::, and never finds it. Likewise from TL when deleting IOS created drawers, this fails because the server was looking for 0:: ! In these cases, I believe the drawer deletion is successful, but the entry remains in FILECAB.DAT, and so you can see it whenever you list drawers. The workaround (for now) is to do an RDR from the DRM menu in IOS, so this drawer is removed from the filecabinet for good. Another problem from TeamLinks is that when draweers are created, the files it creates inherit the protection of the parent directory, so hence in this case it's possible to create drawers you might have difficulties deleting. All of these are problems we are currently addressing. Hope this helps, Kevin.
4083.3 | Will it be fixed soon ? | WELCLU::WELSAU::LI | Sau Ha Li @WLO | Wed Apr 20 1994 14:59 | 9 |
Hello, Thanks for the explaination. Since that you are addressing the issue, does that mean this will be fixed in the next release of IOS and TL ? If not, when will it be ? This is important to the customer as the users can be using IOS from VT and TL depending where they are working from. thanks& regards, Sau Ha

Sau Ha, As you know, I cannot commit to saying it will be definitely fixed. However, I'd be surprised if it wasn't :-) Kevin. |
