4058.0. "reply from internet doesn't work" by ANGLIN::SEITZ (A Smith & Wesson beats 4 Aces.) Thu Apr 07 1994 16:53

    Hi,

    I am sending mail to/from an internet user. He can send me mail but he
    cannot reply to my messages. His message gets bounced back with an
    error indicating that recipient doesn't have an ALL-IN-1 account.

    I had an internal internet newsletter that mentioned this problem and
    said to fix the return address setup but didn't elaborate. When I told
    the person who supports our ALL-IN-1 system about it she didn't know
    what she was looking for to fix.

    Can anybody tell me how to fix this? I've looked in this conference,
    MAILBUS, and VMSmail for the problem but couldn't find the answer.

    Thanks,
    Pat

4058.1Who's adding the quotes?FORTY2::ASHMail Interchange Group, ReadingThu Apr 07 1994 17:226
It looks as if your ALL-IN-1 username has got a set of quotes which it doesn't
need. If you can find out where they are being added, it may be possible to
fix it. Does your recipient see the quotes when he reads your message? Does
his system add them to the reply?

Hi,

I think mrgate puts the quotes in there.

Did you try to address him as [email protected]@internet ?
Most internal MTS nodes replace internet with the proper UMC
node/mbx.

Jan

4058.3@internet seemed to workANGLIN::SEITZA Smith & Wesson beats 4 Aces.Tue Apr 12 1994 20:158
    Hi,

    .2
    That appeared to work. I had been addressing it to him as
    name&add@us1rmc@mrgate. He was able to reply to my test message.

    Thanks,
    Pat
