4028.0. "New FORMATs in MUPA" by GIDDAY::JOYCE (Burn me kangaroo down sport) Tue Mar 29 1994 12:51

I notice that MUPA adds a number of new entries to the FORMAT dataset,
including Wordperfect (WPCORP) and Microsoft Word (WORD5). A customer
has already added entries for these formats (albeit using different
names) as part of a major customisation of Document Transfer to enable
transfer, conversion and storage of these document types in IOS. They
use the V2 CDA Converter Library to do the conversions between these
formats and WPS-PLUS, or the documents can be stored in their original
form (but NOT as FOREIGN) so that they can be converted later.

Now poised on the brink of installing MUPA and TLC, the customer is
wondering how these formats that they have added will interact with the
    standard product. So, some questions...

    1.	Are the new formats SPECIFICALLY for use by Teamlinks, or are
they just to match the formats available in CDA Cnvlib V2?

    2.	WORD5 uses the FOREIGN DSAB but WPCORP uses a WPCORP DSAB; does
this mean the WPCORP is now a standard TEXT DSAB in IOS?

    3.	Does IOS V3.0A provide the CDA Cnvlib V2 and/or a license for it?
(I don't think it does but can someone clarify)

    4.	Will IOS "automatically" convert between CDA V2 formats?

    5.	If a TL V2 user stores a WORD5 or WPCORP document in IOS, is it
converted to ASCII or WPS-PLUS, or is it NOT converted (in which
case what happens when an IOS user tries to read it)?

    Many thanks

The new FORMAT master entries were added to take into account the formats
supported by CDA V2 which were not supported by CDA V1.1.

No.

No.

Please explain what you mean by "automatically"?

If you mean what happens when a TL user stores a WORD5 or WPCORP in an IOS
file cabinet then the document will not be converted. If an IOS VT user
reads the document and the required converters exist on the system IOS will
display the contents of the document.
