4021.0. "AIDA server startup query" by WAYOUT::TALBOT (Trevor Talbot) Thu Mar 24 1994 12:00

Hi,

Can anyone explain why the following would occur
and 'quel significance' ?

On a 2 node cluster of 4600's running ALL-IN-1 V3.0A
AND TLC V2.0 , after a re-boot the AIDA
servers didn't start. They were manually started and
all was o.k. the log file reported the following error:

%OARTL-E-BADSTARTSTAE, Server state not stopped.

This hasn't occured on earlier re-boots.

4021.4more guesses...AIMTEC::WICKS_AAtlanta's Most (In)famous WelshmanTue Mar 29 1994 05:0223
    trev,

sorry but for what seems like forever i've been in transit
between my old 'large' office to my new 'midget-size' office ...
anyway here's a couple of things to check

    1) do they have the SSB version of the TLC i.e BL41
    2) presumably that DCL error is coming from theire SYLOGIN - obviously
that should be fixed but the $SET NOVERIFY isn't very helpful since
it means we see nothing coming out of SYS$STARTUP:OA$AIDA_START.COM
so maybe you could have a quiet word with them about that?

having said that my understaning of BADSERVSTATE implies that the
server wasn't really stopped when they rebooted - there was a problem
and its somewhere in the TeamLinks notesfile about the AIDA config
file getting its knickers-in-a-twist if the state that the server
claimed to be in wasn't actually true.

anyway some things to think about...

    regards,
