4011.0. "Landscape print prob. on a postscript queue" by BIGTOY::LE (Hong Le, CSC Sydney) Tue Mar 22 1994 06:50

IOS 3.0A

An early STARS article based on THR-15627 mentioned a serious print problem
where landscape printing of a WPL doc produced the first page of some 48 lines
and subsequent pages of 1 line each, i.e. line 49 on second page, line 50 on
third page etc. It mentioned a possible fix in 3.0-1 but this didn't seem to
happen.

This problem occurred to a normal WPL doc which was submitted to a postscript
queue (CPS or DCPS symbiont) with print style of LN03-R or LPS20, not PS and
was using PARA=PAGE_ORIENTATION=LANDSCAPE in order to force it out in
landscape. The latter was achieved with keyword defined in printer table
making say 2 IOS site printer records:

	SNO2_3_1006A LS for landscape
	SNO2_3_1006A PT for portrait

and portrait/landscape jobs will be submitted to approriate queue.

The current work-around is to use a LANDSCAPE control block in the doc.
Note that 2.4 didn't need this control block for it to be printed correctly

Thanks for any comments

    Hong,

the answer to THr-15627 was only one of those "thank you for your
QAR answers" that got sent out during DIAMOND Field Test after which
the prob report was converted to an IPR and drifted off into outer space....
I don't see anything in either v3.0 patch that discusses this as a fix

Of course since it's a WPS-PLUS question you were in the wrong
    conference anyway.

    regards,

This problem was believed to be the same as CFS.8749, for which IOSG
has built ICF#33 for IOS 3.0A
