3979.0. "Order number for media only" by OTOOA::VEY () Tue Mar 15 1994 15:32

    Is there an order number for the media only for ALL-IN-1 IOS? (i.e.
    not the H-kit which includes the documentation).

    Regards,

    Cathy,

    The SPD which is on VTX has a whole batch of Q numbers at the bottom
    maybe one of them is the one you need.

3979.2UPI=AAA, but how to order media ONLY?OTOOA::VEYTue Mar 15 1994 19:5818
    Sorry, that was the *first* place I looked... and I still can't figure
    out how to order just the media. I will accept the egg on my face if
    someone can lend me a hand here. I *know* the UPI I need (AAA), but as far
    as I can tell, in order to get the media I have to order an H-kit. The
    only exception I know of is the Consolidated Distribution service,
    which the customer doesn't have.

    We don't need the full documentation kit, and are trying to see if the
    sum of the pieces we need will be cheaper than the whole H-kit. But
    that brings me back to my problem of not being able to price the media
    *only*.

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Cathy

    Cathy,

    the French, Italian and German SSAs contain order information for
    	software licenses
    	software kit and documentation
    	documentation only
    	Services
    	end-user documentation
    	super-user documentation
    	management documentation
    	AP&I documentation
    	file cabinet server documentation

    obviously you can order documentation without media but not media
    without documentation.

    Cathy,

    i'm not sure if it's impossible to order just media but then I honestly
    wouldn't know how to do it anyway - before abandoning hope you could
    try calling Remote Sales Support here in Atlanta as I believe they
    support canadian customers now.

    Cathy,

    	Part number QA-AAAAA-K{5|M} is literally a media only kit. This has
    no installation guide, cover letters, read-me-firsts or any written
    information of any kind. I am not sure if you can order it separately
    though. I am certain it is not intended directly for customers, but
    for support specialists, who presumably don't need the docs.

    Regards,

    Martin.
3979.6Surely you jest?AIMTEC::WICKS_AAtlanta's Most (In)famous WelshmanFri Mar 18 1994 13:539
    Martin,

    Why wouldn't support specialists need docs? it;s documentation only
    kits we order since we're not bright enough to read the code off the
    media only kits and memorise it!

    regards,

    Andrew.D.Wicks
3979.7You mean you can't?IOSG::BURTONALL-IN-1 BuilderMon Mar 21 1994 10:2111
    Andy,

    	This was the story I was told when I took over release engineering
    and we discussed the need for these media only kits. I thought it was
    well known that support specialists could assimilate the information
    directly from the tapes whilst simultaneously installing 6 diferent
    software products blindfold.

    Regards,

    Martin.
