| this is the problem described in the STARS article
[ALL-IN-1] After MUPA Install Housekeeping Jobs Fail 'error opening
sys$input'
it's because the house-keeping jobs are trying to run the version of
SMJACKET pre-MUP - just blow away your hk jobs and resubmit them using
the new SMJACKET and all will be well until you upgrade to the PFR.
or you could just rename SMJACKET to the version that the hk job wants
on your system

| so how did i get this error on a 2.4 unpatched system?
it was in the log for EW.
Ann
Error opening primary input file SYS$INPUT
File not found
ALLIN1 job terminated at 6-MAR-1994 01:00:03.09

3965.3 | SMJACKET editted ?? | AIMTEC::VOLLER_I | Gordon (T) Gopher for President | Thu Mar 17 1994 23:04 | 12 |
| Ann,
Possibly someone edited SMJACKET then purged it.
The 'primary input file' for a batch job is the .COM file you are
trying to run. When the job is submitted to batch, the version
number is recorded. If the .COM file (same version) doesn't exist
at run time, then the error you saw is returned to the log.
Cheers,
Iain.

| iain -
nice idea, but i don't think so...
dir/date SMJACKET.COM;1 30-MAY-1990 19:36:12.52
there is only 1 smjacket.com in OA$LIB. could this happen if the system
had a power outage?

I can't remember exactly but isn't it the FILE ID that is recorded ...
so this could happen if the .COM is moved, replaced, or edited ...
