G'day All,
I would like to discuss the issue of having multiple ADIA servers per
node. My main rational for having a multiserver environment is :
1. spread the load across a number of servers
2. illiminate a single point of failure
3. have a server assigned to a user or group of users for
trouble shooting, very useful if it appears a user is causing
the server to hang, access vio (I am not saying this happens but
just mentioning the advantage of having a multiserver environment
for trouble shooting)
I would like to know how can TL users be directed to use a particular
server ? For the FCS this was not possible as the TL client needed
to have this additional functionality built in.
Are there any management or tuning related issues people should be
aware of prior to considering a multiserver environment ?
Regards,
Sunil

With TeamLinks V2.0, each user can define which FCS and AIDA
object/port they connect to via definitions in WIN.INI (or OFFICE.INI).
If they haven't got TeamLinks V2.0, they wouldn't be using AIDA anyway!

I don't think you should expect much of a performance improvement, and
don't forget that one server for 50 clients will probably use less
system resources than two servers handling 25 clients each. My only
advice is to keep it simple, and don't try to run too many servers at
the same time as it could get a little out of hand.
However, it is a good way of isolating a particular "trouble makers",
and not impacting the other clients in the process.
I don't actually know of any customer who actively runs multiple
servers, so we'd be interested to hear about your findings.
Thanks,
Kevin.

Please don't change the existing entries in WIN.INI - specify overrides
in OFFICE.INI instead (FCSConnectionInfo/AIDAConnectionInfo entries)
Cheers,
Paul.
