3921.0. "*WISH* tracing of ALL-IN-1 batch scripts" by PEARS::KRAMER (Fritz Kramer @UFC, Munich, 865-1305) Fri Feb 25 1994 09:37
Hi,
debugging/tracing a script submitted to a script-symbion queue is
a bit cumbersome as you have to specify the TRACE param with the
SUBMIT_SCRIPT function.
This is (almost) no problem when writing my own scripts but is a
problem with standard ALL-IN-1 scripts.
If I didn't miss something there are two ways to debug a standard
ALL-IN-1 script submitted to the script queue.
1. Edit the script/named data and add the TRACE param to the
SUBMIT_SCRIPT function
or
2. Stop the script-queue.
Submit the script as usual
Modify the /SETUP qualifier of the script-job
e.g. $ SET ENTRY /SETUP=("""KRAMER""",SYS$LOGIN) 123
Restart the script-queue
To circumvent this I would like to have an easy way to globally turn on
tracing for batch scripts
e.g. by defining a TRACE-logical or
if tracing is turned on before SUBMIT_SCRIPT
