3885.0. "EM Modify Header edits truncate long addresses" by GANTRY::HULL (Digital Consulting [Delivery]/Motown) Mon Feb 14 1994 15:41
This problem occurred under V3.0-1 and now also after MUPA installation...
Customer addresses a message to an Internet address, like:
[email protected] @SMTP
which produces a To line like:
TO: Internet address ([email protected] @SMTP)
(line extends beyond col 80 but full correct value is stored).
they then Edit the msg body, etc., and file it. Then they want to change the
"Internet address" text to show the guy's name, so they use MH (Modify Header),
and overstrike the "Internet address". The long address string, which was
correctly stored in it's full size, is now truncated at column 80, so the
final value is stored as
[email protected] @S
Of course, "S" is an invalid MR Mailbox.
We use a modified SPECIAL.CMU and SPECIAL.COM, but these are NOT factors -
this is reproducible using /NOCUSTOM. Only editing the line in MH screws
things up.
Is there a fix for this? I'm playing phone tag with CSC - haven't talked
to them yet since Friday. This is causing them some serious aggravation.
Regards,
Al

| Hi,
This is a known problem that is fixed in the PFR. As the fix was in
code you won't be able to apply it yourself. To the best of my
knowledge the fix is not in any patch.
Sorry it's not better news
