3874.0. "ADS V2.3 versus ADS V3.0" by UTRTSC::SMEETS (Look at the ALL-IN-1 side of life) Fri Feb 11 1994 11:00

HI,

A question concerning archiving differences between ALL-IN-1 V2.3 &
ALL-IN-1 V3.0.

According to the customer in V2.3 ADS showed the following behaviour:
Enforced archiving flag in all user profiles on Y.
Sheduling the ADS procedure with enforced archiving results in archiving of all
documents which meet the archiving criteria, except for the folders which the
users had excluded for archiving.

In ALL-IN-1 V3.0 the same scenario results in archiving of all documents which
meet the archiving criteria regardless if the user specified folder to be
excluded from archiving.

The behaviour of the ADS procedure in V3.0 is according to the documentation
correct.

The customer would like to know if it is possible to change the current V3.0
ADS procedure in such a way that it acts like the V2.3 ADS procedure.

Any input is welcome,

Martin

    martin,

Archiving in v2.3 wasn't very good (:==:) and we went out of our way to
advise people not to use it - in v3.0 most if not all the bugs have
been fixed so i'm surprised that anyone would want *any* of the old
    behaviour back.

I doubt whether anyone would admit to being the archive developer
anymore though I did see the original version whilst I was in Reading

It's best to tell your customer that the answer is no unless you want
to submit an SPR and wait and wait and ....

    Regards,
