3867.0. "TMA and an opened mail area " by VAXRIO::ABREU () Wed Feb 09 1994 21:29

    Hi,

I have a customer who needs to change the sdaf file of an opened
    mail area to another disk.
He has just one mail area (SHARE) .. So I thought of using option TMA
that was supposed to move closed mail areas. Well as he has just one
mail area , I can't close it because I wouldn't be able to run the
Balance Mail Area. So I used a test machine to try the move of an
opened mail area . I shutdown ALL-IN-1 before the test just to
guarantee that nobody would be using it. The test worked fine .
    I used the option TMA.
I took a look at the procedure executed by TMA and I didn't find any
problems in transfering an opened mail area since nobody is using it
    and ALL-IN-1 is shutdown.

Has anyone tried this in a production system ? Could there be any
    problems with this ?

    Thanks .. Marcia

    hi maria -

i just did this last week at my customer's site. they have a 3-node
cluster. the only thing i had to do extra is make sure the logical for
the new OA$SHARn location got defined on each node. i had to run
    oa$lib:OA$SM_DEFINE_SHARED_LOGICALS.SCP on each node.

    they have V3.0-1.
